Public Pharma for Europe — A Creative Conference
The Public Pharma for Europe Coalition invites you to a two-day creative conference to explore what a pharmaceutical sector truly serving the public could look like — and how we get there together. A conference for health and commons activists, public and global health professionals, and everyone dedicated to the struggle for health as a common public good.

Day 1: 09.00- 18.00

Day 1 — What Is Already Possible?
The first day is dedicated to the people already doing the work. Through panel discussions, we will hear from those driving Public Pharma initiatives today: what they have built, what stands in their way, and where the opportunities are.
We will learn from a referendum campaign in Basel — a pharma hotspot — where a coalition is pushing to allocate public money to Public Pharma. We will learn from those pioneering a commons-based approach, and from efforts navigating towards state-led EMA (European Medicines Agency) approval. And we will draw on examples from all over the world — because the most exciting experience comes from places that never had the luxury of accepting the system as it is.
Day 2 — Building Together
The second day shifts from insight to action. In a series of hands-on workshops, we will explore our collective agency: mapping synergies, sharing tools, and nurturing one another to seize and create the opportunities identified on Day 1.
Together we will dig into what it takes to build real political power around Public Pharma, and think through concrete next steps: what needs to happen, how it can happen, and how might you play a role? The workshops are designed as open, generative spaces — a chance to connect, think big, and leave with a clearer sense of what to do and how your work fits into Public Pharma.
The conference will be held in English.

Public Pharma for Europe – Eine kreative Konferenz
Die Public Pharma for Europe Coalition lädt zu einer zweitägigen kreativen Konferenz. Wir wollen darüber sprechen wie ein Pharmasektor aussehen könnte, der wirklich im Dienste der Öffentlichkeit steht – und wie wir gemeinsam dorthin gelangen. Eine Konferenz für Gesundheit- und Commons-Aktivist:innen, Fachleute aus Public und Global Health sowie alle, die sich für Gesundheit als ein öffentliches Gut einsetzen.

Tag 1 – Was ist bereits möglich?
Der erste Tag ist denjenigen gewidmet, die schon jetzt an der Zukunft arbeiten und aktuell Public-Pharma-Initiativen vorantreiben: was sie aufgebaut haben, was ihnen im Weg steht und wo die Chancen liegen.
Wir werden von einer Referendumskampagne in Basel – einem Pharma-Hotspot – lernen, wo eine Koalition darauf drängt, öffentliche Gelder für Public Pharma bereitzustellen. Wir werden von den Pionieren eines auf Gemeingütern basierenden Ansatzes lernen und von den Bemühungen, die auf eine staatlich geführte Zulassung durch die EMA (Europäische Arzneimittelagentur) abzielen. Und wir werden den Blick in die Welt weiten. Denn die spannendsten Erfahrungen kommen von Orten, die nie den Luxus hatten, das System so zu akzeptieren, wie es ist.
Tag 2 – Gemeinsam handeln
Am zweiten Tag geht es von der Erkenntnis zur Tat. In einer Reihe von praxisorientierten Workshops werden wir unsere gemeinsame Handlungsfähigkeit erkunden: Synergien aufzeigen, Techniken teilen und uns gegenseitig unterstützen, um die am ersten Tag identifizierten Chancen zu nutzen.
Gemeinsam werden wir uns damit auseinandersetzen, was nötig ist, um politische Macht rund um Public Pharma aufzubauen, und konkrete nächste Schritte durchdenken: Was muss geschehen, wie kann es geschehen und welche Rolle könntest du dabei spielen? Die Workshops sind als offene, kreative Räume konzipiert – eine Gelegenheit, Kontakte zu knüpfen, groß zu denken und mit einem klareren Verständnis dafür nach Hause zu gehen, was zu tun ist und wie deine Arbeit in Public Pharma passt.
Die Konferenz findet auf Englisch statt.
